Even the New Zealand cities of Auckland and Wellington, considered New Zealand’s most expensive, are in fact among the cheapest in the developed world according to the Mercer Worldwide Cost of Living Survey 2015.
The mercer survey measures the comparative cost of over 200 items in each location, including housing, transport, food, clothing, household goods and entertainment. It is the world’s most comprehensive cost of living survey.
The survey, which ranks 207 cities across five continents, placed Auckland in 61st position and Wellington at 79th. Here are the most expensive cities in each of the continents:
